What a show! Surrounded by top models (Petra was there!), tennis player Serena Williams and more (check video here soon), it was hard to get through the various stations where HP was presenting its new handhelds, PCs and workstations. But the showstopper was Blackbird 002, HP’s latest gaming PC. And according to Voodoo co-founder Rahul Sood, Blackbird “obliterates the competition”. Actually, it does it so well that it even obliterates Voodoo’s top of the line PC, the Omen. And I after his presentation, I asked Rahul what should I buy, between Blackbird 002 and a Voodoo PC and his answer came as an astonishing surprise.

“If you have to buy a gaming PC today, get the Blackbird. It has the best engineering. We are working on a complete new generation of Voodoo PC that will even more blow you away. Stay tuned”, said Rahul Sood.

  • My sons love WOW (World of Warcraft – online game) but will play it obsessively if not checked. I would like to restrict their access to this game, while still allowing internet access, such that they can use the PCs to get their homework done, but won't be tempted to go back online to WOW.

My Linksys router allows restrictions by time of day, specific URLs, and by keywords. WOW itself is launched via an executable file on the PC, and then connects to the internet, but it is unclear as to where it connects (the whole screen is consumed by WOW so no URLs are visible). I also know that my kids connect to different WOW servers from time to time, but I assume that they are routed via a central WOW server of some sort. I've checked the Linksys forums, spoken with their tech support, and checked the WOW forums — no luck.

If you can answer this question, you will be my hero (and the hero of many parents out there).

    Thanks in advance.

Configure your Windows firewall (or the firewall on your router to block ports 3724, 6112 , 6881 to 6999. WOW communicates on these ports…

  • Are laptops really meant for games? Even if you throw lots of money at them like a madman can they still be on par with desktop PCs in terms of game performance? I have a dilemma here on whether I should buy a gaming laptop or regular one and leave all the gaming up to my PC.

If you're always mobile frequently, I suggest you buy laptop, otherwise stick to desktop. Desktop capability is higher than laptop, easily to upgrade, and also cheaper
